MIRACLE AT RAAMSTEEG

This was the title of an article published in Het Parool(October 2012) about this special project. The building had already been given up by the Bureau for Monuments and Archaeology and by the Cultural Heritage Agency. In the nick of time, the building was rescued from being demolished and replaced. Initial traces date back to the 15^th century, when there was an apple orchard behind the house. The alley is now crowded with bicyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians. The contractor delivered an exceptional piece of work. In addition to salvaging the façade, the 17-century beams and wattle have been fully restored. All this thanks to a generous contribution from the Vereniging Vrienden van Stadsherstel.
