Sarphatipark

DEFINED ELEGANCE ALONG THE SARPHATIPARK

We converted this lower-storey residence on the most elegant side of the Sarphatipark into a sunny, spacious apartment. In the cellar the small pantry, crawl space and tiny storage area made way for a generous basement, which we designed in rigid concrete, steel and – especially along the garden – a lot of glass. On the elegant entrance level we restored and/or retrieved many of the original details, such as the lovely natural stone fireplaces, the marble floor and the stucco ornamentation. The glass strips in the floor connect the entrance level with the basement. The five-metre high void overlooking the garden adds a light, spacious touch. At the rear we have built an addition, with a slate-covered frame reminiscent of the 19th-century roofing.
